Saying that one of UCLA’s most attractive graduates was in attendance for Friday night’s women’s basketball game may sound like a biased opinion. But in the case of Nana Meriwether, it’s a verified fact. Last December, the former UCLA volleyball player was crowned Miss USA 2012. During halftime of the Bruins’ 79-51 loss to Cal, Meriwether explained how the pressure of playing middle blocker compared to competing for the Miss USA crown.
During her time in Westwood, Meriwether earned All-American honors twice and helped guide the Bruins to a Final Four appearance in 2006. That season she became the first player in Division I history to lead the nation in both hitting percentage and blocks.
