The AP All-America football team was released yesterday. Here are your first-teamers from the Pac-12: Ka’Deem Carey, Zach Ertz and Marqise Lee on offense and Star Lotulelei, Will Sutton and Jordan Poyer on defense, with plenty of others on the second and third teams.
More conference honors were passed out in football, and Stanford offensive lineman David Yankey won the Morris Trophy for outstanding lineman in the Pac-12, while Arizona State’s Will Sutton won it on the defensive side. Interesting note – neither school had had a Morris Trophy winner since 2002 before this year.
More on Will Sutton – he has grown into his own as a Sun Devil. Pretty good feature on him from the one and only Doug Haller.
New Cal coach Sonny Dykes is starting to fill out his staff and he is bringing two assistants with him to Cal from Louisiana Tech – offensive coordinator Tony Franklin and recievers coach Rob Likens, both of whom held the same position at Tech the last three years.

After receiving an offer to go back to Tennessee, USC wide receivers coach Tee Martin has decided to remain with the Trojans.

Despite the loss to BYU, Utah women’s basketball is on the upward track. The defeat at the hands of the WCC Cougars was its first of the season.
Don’t forget that Oregon is in the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Final Four. One of the reasons the Ducks have made it this far is because of Oregon’s slide show – setter Lauren Plum to middle blocker Ariana Williams. The good ole’ back-slide attack!
UCLA freshman sensation Shabazz Muhammad has gotten lighter and his teammates have noticed his explosiveness. It has been a slow start for the Bruins, but they still have a big non-conference game on the ledger against Missouri to score a very good RPI win.
Perhaps the biggest Pac-12 men’s basketball non-conference game of the year is this Saturday, when No. 5 Florida comes to Tucson to take on No. 8 Arizona. While this top-10 battle should be stupendous, the Gators and Wildcats will be coming off some long finals-induced layoffs.
