After a great start to the season, UCLA couldn’t keep the momentum rolling all the way through. The Bruins lost to Baylor 49-26 in the Holiday Bowl, and UCLA’s flat showing there took the fizz out of an otherwise great season. UCLA lost its last three games after a 9-2 start. Now, Bruins fans can turn their attention to basketball, where a matchup with Missouri awaits tonight. A Missouri site takes a look at the memorable 1995 NCAA tournament game between these two squads. Don’t utter the name “Tyus Edney” while in Columbia; not a good idea unless you want to feel awkward.
With the Pac-12 now at 1-2 in bowl games, Arizona State will look to even the score in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl against Navy on Saturday. Luckily, the Forks will have Marion Grice, who is back with the Sun Devils after dealing with the death of his brother. The game kicks off at 1 p.m. PT on ESPN2.
Oregon State will do battle with Texas in the Alamo Bowl starting at 3:45 p.m. Saturday on ESPN, and here’s Jordan Poyer’s thoughts after his final practice before his final game as a Beaver. Meanwhile, Oregon State’s Storm Woods and Texas’s Alex Okafor were high school teammates, and Beavers offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf wants no trash talk between the two.
It’s official: Matt Barkley’s college career is over, as he will not play in the Sun Bowl. Hate to see Barkley go out like this after such a promising ramp to the season.

SB Nation has graded all the coaching hires in college football, and the site gave Cal a B for its choosing of Sonny Dykes.
Colorado has Mike MacIntyre; Colorado State has Jim McElwain — the Denver Post blogs about the “two Macs.”
A huge game is going down on The Farm this weekend, as No. 1 Stanford will host No. 2 UConn in women’s hoops Saturday at 1 p.m. PT on ESPNU. Both Geno Auriemma and Tara VanDerveer expect a lot of offense.
It’s an all-Pac-12 weekend for UConn hoops as the West Coast Huskies (Washington) will take on the East Coast Huskies Saturday at 4:30 p.m. PT on ESPN2. This would be a huge win for U-Dub if it can pull it off, but this won’t be any walk in the park, especially with the game being at UConn.
Hitting two free throws that essentially won Arizona the Diamond Head Classic showed just how much confidence Mark Lyons has. This comes as no surprise to Wildcats coach Sean Miller, who also coached Lyons back when the two were at Xavier.
Utah wraps up the non-conference part of its schedule with a tilt against NAIA’s College of Idaho 6:30 p.m. PT Friday on Pac-12 Networks. It’s a game in which the Runnin’ Utes will look to bounce back after a collapse against Cal State Northridge.
Hey, look who it is- Neil Stover! The former Washington State men’s basketball manager-turned-Pac-12 staffer-turned news producer for SWX Right Now gives us this little article about the Cougars “hosting” Idaho State. “Hosting” is in quotation marks because the game is in Kennewick. Pac-12 managers unite!
